Mobile Home Acquisition Program

The Mobile Home Acquisition Program

The Mobile Home Park Acquisition Program is part of the Broward County Airport Department’s long-term plan to provide noise mitigation measures to eligible residents. Conventional homes can be upgraded to reduce the impacts of higher levels of airport noise, however, mobile homes cannot be upgraded in this way.

The solution for residents of the mobile home parks that will be affected by the airport expansion involves purchasing the land and the mobile homes and relocating eligible residents and their personal property. Those eligible for the program live in two (2) mobile home parks that will be affected by a planned runway extension. These are the Marshalls Everglade Mobile Home Park (a/k/a Sheldon Mobile Home Park) and the Ocean Waterway Mobile Home Park. These two (2) mobile home parks lay within FAA approved program boundaries.

After the mobile home parks have been acquired, Broward County will work with the City of Dania Beach to rezone the underlying land to an airport compatible use so it remains a tax-generating property.
